Counseling sessions done over Zoom fall under the same confidentiality guidelines as sessions done in my office. Information shared during sessions is not shared by the counselor unless someone is hurting you and/or others, you want to harm yourself and/or others, and/or you give the counselor permission to share the information with a trusted adult.

Hagan Scholarship: A nationwide need-based merit scholarship, designed to help high-achieving students graduate college debt free. The scholarship provides up to $48,000 over 4 years to attend college. To learn more about this scholarship, see Mrs. Schaefer, look at the brochure outside her office on the "Scholarships" wall, and/or visit their website at wwwhsfmo.org

Farm Credit Services of ND:
Any senior that is from a farming or ranching family OR
planning to pursue an agricultural career are eligible for 1 of 6 scholarships given out in the Minot area. Students can get a scholarship application from Mrs. Schaefer or from

Application deadline is March 1, 2021.

American Legion Auxiliary Scholarships:

American Legion Auxiliary, Dept. of ND, Past Presidents Parley: awards two $500 scholarships each year used for a nursing school of the students' choice. Scholarship applications can be found at

American Legion Auxiliary, Dept. of ND-Education Program: scholarships of $500 are awarded to eligible students attending a college, university, or trade school in ND.

-Junior Member Loyalty Scholarship (10 scholarships of $2,500)

Juniors that signed up for the PSAT will take that test on Oct. 14th from 8:30 am-11:30 am/12 pm. at the high school. 

Juniors, RUReadyND offers practice tests for PSAT, ASVAB, and ACT. Login on and go to college planning and click on test prep. Username is nd.last name.first name.mmddyyyy and the password you created. If you forgot your password, please see Mrs. Scheafer to have a new one reset. Also check back in Mrs. Schaefer's google classroom for links to other practice tests for ASVAB, PSAT, and ACT tests. 

Dakotas JATC is announcing their electrical apprenticeship program. Applications are online at dakotasjatc.org  Must be a high school graduate or have GED, 18 years old, and have a valid driver's license. Any questions call 701-297-5934 or email office@dakotasjatc.org

Sanford MedX is a free online program geared for high school juniors and seniors who are interested in a health-related career. Students need to apply using the attached application form and send it to linae.enockson@sanfordhealth.org by Spet. 25th. As a reminder, the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) can be completed beginning on October 1, 2020 for graduating seniors beginning college in the 2021-22 academic year. The FAFSA application and financial aid program information is located at studentaid.gov We encourage students to apply as early as possible for financial aid as need-based aid is limited, including the ND State Grant funds. https://studentaid.gov/
The 2021-22 ND-MN reciprocity application will be available for seniors in early 2021. For students attending a Minnesota public institution, the reciprocity application is required to take advantage of tuition-reduction benefits. College Application Day: Set for Oct. 8th at 12:15-1:30 pm at DLBHS. Seniors applying to a ND college during this event will have 1 ($35) application fee paid for by the Bank of ND.

ACT Super Score: Superscoring is the process of averaging your four best subject scores from all of your ACT® test attempts. Section retesting allows you to showcase your skills and accomplishments gained over a lifetime—not just your test-taking abilities on a particular day. Beginning with the September 2020 national ACT® test date—once you complete a full test—you can choose to retake the full test or retake one or more single-subject section tests to improve your scores. Students will need to set up an account with at act.org to retake test(s). All retests are done at Minot High.

ASVAB: The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a heavily researched and well-respected aptitude test developed by the Department of Defense. It measures a young adult’s strengths and potential for success in military training. Juniors will take the ASVAB on Oct. 1, 2020 at DLBHS.

Virtual College/Career Fair: DACAC-ND Council is hosting a virtual fair on Sept. 17, 2020 for juniors and seniors. Live presentations, 1-1 chat sessions, and virtual tours of colleges will be available. Times for the virtual fair will be determined at a later date.

Scholarships:
-Coca-Cola Bottling Co.: An achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. They are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities.
